Visionary Dreamers of Today ChildCare and PreSchool Information

Parent-Teacher conferences are conducted at least three times a year. This is a great opportunity for parents to view their child's portfolio and discuss their individual goals and academic progress. We also encourage families to provide specific feedback in our annual survey and to volunteer in the classroom or attend special events.

We utilize the Teaching Strategies (TSG) GOLD Creative Curriculum system as well as supplemental curriculum materials to plan group and individual lessons that promote school readiness. The preschool classrooms also use the Nemours Bright Start Literacy curriculum to increase language and literacy skills. The infant and toddler classrooms use Foundations for Success for supplemental activities. To learn more about TSG, go to www.TeachingStrategies.com.

Children at every age level will be assessed using an on-going portfolio system for the purpose of identifying developmentally appropriate learning out comes met throughout the year. Portfolios will include work samples as well as screenings and assessments. Parents will be informed during parent-teacher conferences of results of the screenings. The teacher and parent will create individualized learning goals based on the portfolio.

At our learning center we focus on 6 core character developments. Teaching children to rely on strong principles and ethnics to make decisions which will help guide their behavior, interacting with others while preparing them to accomplish goals throughout their lives.

VDOT is licensed through the Department of Children and Families. We also partner with the USDA Food Program to provide balanced healthy meals. As a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) and School Readiness provider we also receive continuous monitoring and support from the Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Duval.

To ensure your child's safety, our staff undergo rigorous background and reference checks. Our teachers are also highly credentialed. Most of our lead teachers hold at least a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or a college degree and at least three years of teaching experience. Every teacher has a Professional Development Plan that outlines their track for on-going training and education.
